Depression

Depression strikes people of all ages, all income levels, and all backgrounds. It does not discriminate, and it does not look the same in everyone. For this reason, Dr. Pfeiffer has been trained to treat depression in children as young as 3 or 4 years old through adolescence and adulthood. Her approach with adults and adolescents is both supportive and instructional. She draws on her cognitive behavioral training to help people increase awareness of unhelpful thinking patterns and behavior, and find more effective alternatives. She also considers the unique circumstances of the individual that may impact and help maintain the depression. With very young children, Dr. Pfeiffer believes it is often most important to coach parents on how to help their child with their feelings, and help them develop more helpful life patterns early on.
