While at Texas Children’s Hospital, Dr. Laviage created the Pediatric Health Psychology Program to focus on the psychological treatment with children facing chronic medical illness. She has been published on the topic of HIV in Adolescents, sat on a professional panel for the Arthritis Foundation on the topic of adolescents with arthritis transitioning to adult healthcare, evaluated individuals prior to bariatric surgery, and worked with countless individuals with fibromyalgia, diabetes, various forms of cancer, kidney disease and pre and post organ transplant patients. Managing chronic pain, enduring painful medical procedures, helping the family make necessary psychological and physical adjustments, and managing anxiety and depression symptoms commonly associated with medical conditions are some of Dr. Laviage’s experiences that commit her to this specialty service.
