Eating Disorders

While Dr. Laviage maintains a general practice treating children starting at 6 years of age, adolescents, and adults, she is well-known in the community for the treatment of Eating Disorders, including but not limited to Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia, and Binge Eating Disorder.  She has provided training for psychology interns and psychiatric residents at Baylor College of Medicine and provided training in the school systems to parents, teachers, nurses, and coaches.

When treating Eating Disorders, Dr. Laviage feels strongly in using a multidisciplinary approach, teaming up with a physician, nutritionist, psychiatrist, and any other provider that may be indicated.  She will help to create this treatment team for each individual patient to ensure optimal care of one’s physical and mental health.  This team approach allows Dr. Laviage to focus on the psychological processes perpetuating the unhealthy eating patterns rather than focusing on meal planning, vital signs, and other critical, but time consuming, aspects of treatment.  Dr. Laviage will spear-head the communication among all team members as each piece is integral in her treatment approach.
